AREA 06 – CUTTING EDGE HOME DESIGN
Also this year, in AREA 06 in hall B we gather some 40 Swedish and
international companies representing the very latest in interior decoration and
design for home environments. The shape of the department has changed character
this year because of the new arrangement of the hall.
New arrangement in hall B
ENCOUNTER: LIGHTING, FURNITURE AND TEXTILE
This year, the lighting exhibitors and companies offering modern home
furnishings such as furniture and textiles have their booths alongside and side
by side in the B-hall. The last few years, home lighting exhibitors have been
situated in the first section of the A-hall. With this restructuring we hope to
create an even stronger feeling of home decoration in the B-hall, as well as
more synergies between lighting, furniture and textile companies.
In hall B you will also find the exhibition “The View – small houses with a big
profile”, two garden cabins furnished with products selected from this year’s
fair, both representing different styles.
HALL C – DESIGN & CONTRACT
Among the companies working primarily with interior decoration and lighting
for office and public environments are many with cutting edge design knowledge
and material handling. Many of them work with well renowned Swedish and foreign
designers. The products in the C-hall – furniture, lighting, textiles and other
decoration items – could very well also be used in homes.
Welcome to The Garden Restaurant!
We have opened a new restaurant designed in modern international style with
Swedish elements. Sit down and let us serve you a good meal in our light and
spacious environment.
You will find us in the Entrance hall facing the C-hall.
MATCHMAKING
IN GREENHOUSE
When for the fourth time Stockholm Furniture Fair presents Greenhouse, the
growth place for independent designers and design schools, in the Victoria hall,
there are more participants than ever before. Some 60 designers and over 25
design schools from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Estonia,
UK, Germany och Japan take part in Greenhouse.
Greenhouse was created at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2003. Already from the
start there was great interest for the concept from Swedish as well as from
international design talents. The success was evident. The second year the upper
level of the Victoria Hall was opened to provide room for more design schools.
The intention of Greenhouse is to create opportunities for exciting meetings and
fruitful business collaboration between today’s interior design industry and
tomorrow’s design profiles. Greenhouse is the springboard to reality for
creative talents, and a platform for exchange of ideas and catching new trends.
Independent designers and design schools from all over the world are invited to
apply for participation in Greenhouse. Applicants must not be firmly committed
to a producer, and not established in the industry. The products should not have
been exhibited earlier, and must be possible to produce in large scale. The
final selection is made by a jury consisting of a renowned group of people:
Hedvig Hedqvist, journalist; Matti Klenell, designer; Christian Springfeldt,
freelance; Ola Rune, designer, and Charlotte Wiking, event manager at the
Stockholm Furniture Fair.
The activities in and around Greenhouse are many and various. Every day the
chief editor of Forum Magazine, Mark Isitt, conducts a number of interviews with
established and well-known designers on the stage.
A central position is this year given to the exhibition UNG 06/07, which after
the Fair days will roll out on a tour in Sweden and abroad.
Responsible for the graphic and architectural design of Greenhouse is architect
Damian Williamson.
